There's a huge event in Amsterdam this week called "Sail 2005" which only happens every five years. The harbor is filled with all these tall-mast sailing ships from all around the world, and there are tons of free concerts down by the waterfront and fireworks every night. Something like 2.5 million visitors are expected for the event.

Coincidentally, this week also happens to be the week that the city's garbage men and street cleaners went on strike, so things are starting to smell kind of bad. They're all supposed to go back to work on Monday, but their statement has definitely been made...
